New CAO at Shelburne Muni

After a brief search resulting in a choice between two final candidates, provincial Municipal Affairs advisor Chris McNeill has been hired as the chief administrative officer (CAO) for the Municipality of the District of Shelburne.

McNeill replaces Kirk Cox, a former aide to several federal cabiniet ministers. Cox took the helm at MODS after several fractious years there led to what was discribed then as a "chaotic" internal situation at the municipality and widespread low morale of staff.

By all measures, Cox added a professional focus to the administration. He resigned recently to pursue other professional options, including serving as executive director of the Craft Brewers Association of Nova Scotia.

In his role with Municipal Affairs, McNeill has served as advisor to the Municipality and Town of Shelburne. He is expected to begin working in Shelburne on August 15.
