Karen-Sam Norgard
- Three-part drawing course
- Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Yarmouth,
- Saturday afternoons.
- August 4, 11th, and 18th
- 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sponsored by the Yarmouth Art Society.
Sam Norgard is a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design in
Savannah, Georgia, who summers in Nova Scotia. You can see some of her
work at her web site: www.karensamnorgard.com She is known as a
terrific teacher!
The three-part drawing course is designed so that each unit is
self-contained and doesn’t build on what came before. So, if you can
only take one or two of the three, that’s fine.
Here is Sam’s description of the course:
August 4: Still Life Work: working in charcoal, composition, sighting
and measuring techniques, and light on the form
August 11: Exploring Outdoors: working in the studio in the
first part of the class, examining point of view and one point and two
point perspective. Heading out to draw from architecture in the second
half of the class. we will use marker with nice bold lines... very portable
for drawing on site.
August 18: Color Pencil work. "Andrea's Cupcakes"
(Named after a colleague who teaches color pencil work.) We can work
indoors with smaller individualized still lives - and yes! cupcakes are
involved!
Fees for the drawing course are:
Yarmouth Art Society members and students: $20 per session or $50 for
all three
Non-members: $25 per session or $65 for all three
Fees are payable at the start of the sessions.
