Global TV and Halifax Examiner report that passenger countss on the CAT ferry are trending upwards, but numbers were 43 per cent below target for the first two montns of service, according to numbers released by Bay Ferries Tuesday afternoon.
The ferry has had 18,000 riders, but to meet this year's 60,000 passenger target 32,000 passengers would need to have been booked.
If the second half of the season mirrors these figures, the service would carry 34,000 passengers.

REVISED; In a live interview Tuesday morning, Yarmouth mayor Pam Mood says that she is "confident that the government will not close" the Yarmouth Tourism Centre at the ferry terminal on the waterfront.
Media reports during the past two weeks have suggested that the province is set to close six major visitor centres, including the one in Yarmouth.
