FEATURED EVENT
Friday, April 20, 2012
Alex Buchanan has come an immeasurable distance since his debut at the first Hootenanny of the season in 2010 and he returns to the Sea Dog on Friday, April 20. The ambitious young musician has started his own recording studio (Harbourtone Productions), has landed a plum job as artistic director of the Osprey Arts Centre and has followed a musical road which now has him playing and writing some serious blues tunes.
While working in the studio, recording many of the major local talents, Alex has been influenced by Manitoba Hal, Bob Vacon and Allan Crosby, among others. Learning and adapting a Ray Charles piano style, Alex has started creating some great new songs which he plans to record in the coming year.
Alex's night at the Friday Night Hootenanny show will see him performing many of his new rhythm & blues songs for the first time and he will have lots of side guys and gals on stage throughout the evening, including Bob Vacon, Chett Buchanan and Cheryl Graul.
Cover charge is $5.00. Kitchen open until 9:00pm. Table reservations for dinner guests only.
