Fund established for immigration community support groups

As part of Budget 2016-2017 the province is creating a fund to assist community and sponsor groups that are helping refugees integrate into Nova Scotia communities, according to a news release Tuesday

"The way Nova Scotians are welcoming refugees shows what we can achieve when we work together," said Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab. "A diverse Nova Scotia is a strong Nova Scotia."

National conversation on immigration launched

The Government of Canada says in  anews release Tuesday it is asking Canadians about what they think immigration means for Canada, and how to grow the nation through immigration.

Until August 5, 2016, Canadians can get involved by providing an on-line written submission. Other consultation activities include cross-Canada round-table discussions led by the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary, stakeholder engagement by departmental officials; and, public opinion research.
